New Town & Mid Town

Beyond Old Town's postcards lies the Key West where people actually live, work, and go to school. This film moves through New Town and Mid Town in timelapse, from the Triangle and the hotels of North Roosevelt Boulevard to Searstown, Key Plaza, the high school ballfields, and the Seafood Festival. It ends at City Hall and the Police Department, a quiet nod to the everyday workings of the island.

Description

The Landscapes and architecture of Key West are captured like never before in stunning timelapse motion. Over the course of four years, we've painstakingly documented America's Southernmost City and The Lower Florida Keys in this multi-part series, which is a love letter to Key West, a snap-shot of today and a permanent record for tomorrow. Dedicated In Memory Of Cheryl and Crystal Cates: www.cherylcates.org Key West's New Town and Mid Town offer a delightful community, culture, and commerce mix. We started our exploration at the Triangle, a busy area with modern hotels like 24 North and Havana Cabana. Nearby Sunset Green provided a peaceful escape with beautiful views, while the abandoned Sears building offered a glimpse into the past. We found Regal Cinemas, the First State Bank, and the Laureate Hotel in Midtown, all signs of the area's history and community spirit. Key Plaza was a bustling activity center, while the VFW Post offered a quieter atmosphere. We also enjoyed recreational and cultural sites like Bayront Park War Memorial and Jose Marti Memorial. Ramona's Conch Creations and the Key West Seafood Festival were highlights for food lovers. Our tour ended at Key West City Hall and the Police Department, showcasing the community's pride and organization. Each location painted a vivid picture of life in Key West's New Town and Mid Town, from educational institutions to cultural landmarks. Filmed entirely on location in Key West 2021-2025
